Your Speaker Coach
John L. Faulk
John is originally from the Seattle-Tacoma area of the United States. At the university, he majored in Linguistics and Anthropology before setting sail for two seasons aboard a purse-seine fishing vessel in Southeast Alaska. This experience sparked a fire inside him, and it was only a matter of time before he wanted to see the wider world. After brief stints as a marketing director in San Francisco and a speech writer for the Washington State Senate (Democratic Caucus), he set off on a world tour which took him to Damascus in 1994 and ended shortly thereafter in Istanbul, where he became an English teacher and met his future wife. He has lived in Berlin for 20 years and speaks fluent German as well as conversational Turkish. After many years working as an English teacher and dialog coach for the film industry, he formed Fireside Coaching in 2005 to focus on training speaker skills and strategic storytelling.
Architect / Designer
Nurcan is originally from Istanbul, Turkey, where she studied architecture at Yildiz Technical University. After graduation, she began working for the established firm of Yüksel Umuter Architects, where she stayed for the next 12 years. Working together, the duo designed a number of important projects, including the Isik University campus, the Düzce Chamber of Commerce and St. Joseph Elementary School. In 2004, she married John Faulk and moved to Germany. Nurcan uses her architectural expertise to offer strategic support with the conceptualization of new Fireside products. Most recently, clients were able to see her craftsmanship on display with the passports for our Quintilian's Court MasterClass in public speaking and the River Walk client pitch workshop. She is currently putting the finishing touches on Fireside's new product line, aimed at mid-sized law firms building their own internal academies.
